Week 1 Exercise
In Week 1, Mr. Martin gave us an overview of what we should be doing this semester and showed us some great assignments.
The first clip video has been numbered accordingly to the order and we can finish the clip looking at it in order, but the second video needs to be sorted by ourselves.
Here are my exercises.
mints

Week1 asynchronous class materials
In the first week, I learned the basics of cinematography, including lens size, camera Angle, and composition.
Week1 Asynchronous Classroom Quiz Results
Reflection:
Lens size refers to the amount of space visible within a single shot or frame. Different lens sizes can be used to convey different types of information or create different emotional effects. For example, close-ups show a small area of a scene in great detail and are often used to emphasize a character's mood or reaction, while wide-angle shots show a larger area of a scene and are often used to establish an environment or context.
Camera Angle refers to the position of the camera relative to the subject being photographed. Different camera angles can be used to create different perspectives and convey different types of information. For example, a high-angle shot looking down on a subject from above can create a sense of vulnerability or powerlessness, while a low-angle shot looking up at a subject from below can create a sense of power or dominance.
Composition refers to the arrangement of visual elements in a shot or picture. This can include the position of the person or object in the picture, the use of color and lighting, and the balance and symmetry of the overall image. Composition can be used to create visual interest, direct the viewer's gaze, and convey meaning or emotion.
Week2 Exercise
The second week required eight different shots.
Low-angle wide shot (WS)
Frontal medium close-up (MCU) - soft bg
Frontal medium shot (MS) - soft bg
Extreme close-up (ECU)
Side angle medium shot (MS) - soft bg
3/4 angling medium close-up (MCU) - soft/blurry bg
Close-up (CU)
Eye-level medium-wide shot (MW)
As an exercise at the end of the class, we need to edit eight short videos, adding subtitles and transitions to them.
In the second exercise, we need to watch the original video and edit it according to the storyboard. The limit is 35 seconds. Here is my work.

Week2 Asynchronous Class Quiz Results
Reflection: This week I learned how to tell a story. The three-act story structure is a popular narrative framework used in storytelling, particularly in film and literature.
It divides a story into three distinct parts: the setup, the confrontation, and the resolution.
Act One: The Setup The first act establishes the protagonist, their world, and the situation they find themselves in.
This act typically ends with an inciting incident, which sets the story in motion and creates a problem that the protagonist must solve. The inciting incident can be a positive or negative event, but it must be significant enough to disrupt the protagonist's world and force them to take action.
Week3 Asynchronous Class Quiz Results
Reflection: Week 3 I learned what a storyboard is. Storyboard in filmmaking is a visual representation of a film, animation, or video game, much like a comic strip. It's made up of a series of illustrations or images displayed in sequence for the purpose of pre-visualizing a motion picture, animation, motion graphic or interactive media sequence.
Storyboards are used to plan shots, understand the narrative flow, and to communicate ideas to the production team. They can include details such as camera angles, character movements, dialogue, and even notes about special effects or sound. This helps the director, cinematographer, and other crew members visualize the scenes and prepare for the shooting process.
Storyboarding is a crucial part of the pre-production process because it allows filmmakers to experiment with different visual approaches, identify potential problems, and make necessary adjustments before the actual filming begins, saving time and resources.
Week4 Asynchronous Class Quiz Results
Reflection: In week four I learned about the four stages of filmmaking. .Pre-production: This is the planning stage of filmmaking, where all the necessary preparations are made before filming begins. This includes tasks such as writing the script, creating storyboards, casting actors, scouting locations, designing sets and costumes, and hiring crew members.
2.Production: This is the stage where the actual filming takes place. The production team will work together to capture all the footage needed for the film, using the plans and preparations made during pre-production as a guide. This stage can be physically and logistically challenging, as it involves coordinating a large team of people and managing a complex schedule.
3.Post-production: This is the stage where the footage is edited and assembled into a final product. This includes tasks such as cutting and arranging scenes, adding music and sound effects, color grading, and visual effects. Post-production can be a time-consuming process, as it requires careful attention to detail and a keen eye for storytelling.
26.09,23-/Week1-Week LI JINGBU /0367209 Typography/Bachelor of design (Hons) creative media/Taylor's University Task 1/ Exercises LECTURES Week 01 Lecture 01: Introductions In lecture, Mr. Vinod introduced us to typography. He explained that Typography is an act of creating typefaces or type families. I learned that typography has envolved over 500 years from calligraphy to digitalization. It is "the art and technique of arranging type to make written language legible, readable, and appealing when displayed". And the process also created numbers and symbols. Typography is now something everyone dose. Typography can be seen at everywhere in our daily lives, Typography is applied in animation, website design, application design, posters, books and more. Font : refers to the individual font or weight within a typeface, I.e.: Georgia Regular, Georgia Italic and Georgia Bold or Frutiger Light, Roman. Typeface: refers to the various families that do not share characteristics,...
April 21, 2024 Start Week1-Week3 LI JINGBU/0367209 ADVANCED TYPOGRAPHY/Bachelor of design(honours) in creative media Instruction Lecture Summary Week1 In the first week, Ms. Vinod introduced us to the requirements of the module and the tasks for the semester. In the first week we need to complete eight printing systems. Axial Radial Dilatational Random Grid Modular Transitional Bilateral "Typographical organization is complex because the elements are dependent on communication in order to function. Additional criteria such as hierarchy, order of reading, legibility, and contrast also come into play. The typographic systems are akin to what architects term shape grammars. The typographic systems are similar that the systems has a set of rules that is unique and provides a sense of purpose that focuses and directs the decision making." (Elam, 2007) 1.Axial System All elements are aligned to the left or right of a single axis, which can be curved. 2.Radial System All elements e...
April 28, 2024 Week1 Exercise LI JINGBU/ 0367209 Interactive Design/ Bachelor of Design in Creative Media Lecture In this week's lesson, we learned about website usability. Usability refers to how effectively, efficiently, and successfully a particular user can utilise a product or design in a certain situation. It is a part of User Experience (UX) Design. It is the second level of UX Design A design’s usability depends on how well its features accommodate users’ needs and contexts. Key Principle of Usability 1. Consistency 2. Simplicity 3. Visibility 4. Feedback 5. Error Prevention 1. Consistency Consistency is key for these patterns to be recognized and learned by users. If similar-looking things do not produce a similar output, the user is bound to become frustrated. For example, if a website’s buttons are protruding boxes with labels on them, then all of the website’s buttons should look like that. Similarly, if a backward arrow denotes the back button, then it should not be c...
