Reflection

Experience:

In this semester's design research methodology course, I have encountered very many difficulties and challenges, and I have gained a lot. This is the first time I try to write a paper, from the beginning of the confusion and helplessness to later is also a small success, I feel that I have gained a lot, the teacher's course is also very helpful to me, but self-study also let me learn a lot. All in all, this semester was very full and very enjoyable.I also realized that all of our classmates were basically very studious, very active in asking questions, and that the teachers were very responsive to our queries and concerned about the progress of our assignments.

Observation:

In this course, I found out that there are many things to pay attention to in the dissertation,

such as the topic of the dissertation should be as specific as possible, if the scope is too broad

the dissertation is easy to be empty, and the direction of the research is easy to be vague.

When doing a questionnaire, your topic should come out clear and easy to understand in

order to make people have the desire to complete it. I learned that because participants may

be mindful of their intentions and behavioral patterns while talking to the interviewer, this

may bias the results of the study. I've also come to realize how inappropriate and over-

sexualized character design in the context of female characters has contributed to male fun

becoming the norm in the video game industry.

Findings:

I ended up completing my assignments on time and achieved some research, a winding but

rewarding road that made me very happy to have had a fulfilling time. Over the course of the

semester, I have come to recognize that game developers demonstrate the inherent tensions

faced by creatives when working for the big-budget and commercially popular video game

industry. The tension emerges from the gap between producing video games that can produce

a high return on investment and a successful formula for character design or production

Character design conforms to the ongoing debate about the need for video game character

support to have a greater diversity. There is a lack of female labor in character design. In the

video game industry there is a need to avoid the sexual representation of characters by female

character design, in commercial video games in the industry female role models are rarely

featured and are instead depicted as highly sexualized objects, I believe this is incorrect,

character design is one of the core features of video games but its inappropriate presentation

of the female body is in some ways in line with objectification theory. Female character

models in the video game industry are rare, and even when some female characters appear,

they are heavily sexualized, which is reflected in the character design of these characters. The

impact of playing sexualized and de-sexualized characters in video games on the audience is

related to women's experiences of body satisfaction and self-objectification.
